Merry Christmas? - The new politically correct dictatorship rule that “Christmas” should not be used in holiday greetings and discourages the use of nativity scenes in public places as it may offend those of different faiths is just ridiculous! The Christmas season has gone from inclusive to exclusive in that we are supposed to suppress our beliefs so that others can practice theirs. We should not allow ourselves to become programmed robots - if a faith isn’t strong enough that it cannot tolerate others that is not our problem. Immigrants coming to this country over the years have accepted the Canadian way of life and respected our traditions while still free to practice their own beliefs. Pretty soon we will have to celebrate our beliefs behind locked doors for fear we might offend someone of a different faith. What has happened to Freedom of Religion and “our” Charter of Rights??

Sometimes it is wise to follow your instincts - when I appeared for a haircut my hairdresser was very upset because her friend and co-worker had suffered a major stroke and I felt I should reschedule but she insisted it would take her mind off everything - it took an hour and a half to cut my hair because of phone calls, etc. and although I did make her feel a little better she cut and cut until I had very little hair left!!! There are some do's and don't we really should follow in some instances. But then again I did help get her mind off things and it is only hair after all (wow, did I really say that, the very one who had a panic attack when my hair started to thin out)!!!

Thought for Today

"It is better to be decidedly wrong than undecidedly right."

Researchers say that married women tend to pack on the pounds more easily than single women. Not sure I agree - whether married or single, who has time to eat when there's so much good shopping to be done.
If you think today's marriage traditions and such are wacky there is an excerpt printed in Glow Magazine dictating expectations of a wife & mother in the 1930's. Today it would be printed under HUMOUR but was serious stuff back when (and still holds true to some today)....."Little bride you must learn to be your husband's nurse, his companion, his cook, his housekeeper, his valet, his comforter and his sweetheart - what no mention of your duty in the sack? Oh wait, that's next. This part is a hoot - "when a man reaches middle age, it not uncommon for him to imagine that he is in love with a little slip of a girl - treat it as a little illness that men contract in the course of growing up". And people think the term dysfunctional family is something new!!

Thought for Today

Self-respect cannot be hunted, it cannot be purchased, it is never for sale, it cannot be fabricated
out of public relations. It comes to us when we are alone, in quiet moments, in quiet places, when
we suddenly realize that knowing the good we have done it; knowing the beautiful we have
served it; knowing the truth we have spoken it.

IT IS NICE TO BE IMPORTANT BUT IS IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE.

Only a few kids for treats on Halloween so we have "some" leftovers. We normally have between 50 and 60 kids each year but only about 20 or so this time. It was a cool and windy evening so even Samantha's buddy "Eddie" did not dress up and call on her to go out. Little fellow next door was out for the first time and they took pictures of him getting a treat at our door. Thanks to the internet we received pictures of Alex and Angel and Emmett and Maddie decked out in their costumes - love them. Now on to Christmas.....................!!
