The realization hit me with Emmett starting junior kindergarten that when I was the same age as Kevin I had a 20 year old, a 15 year old and a 14 year old - the fact that everything had been taken away from me and I was struggling to survive is another story - the bright side is I did survive. There is much to be said about the timing of family planning and although being in a better position to provide for children is a real plus I personally feel I would not have had the patience had I waited to start a family. Having a family at an early age was, I think, easier in that we were still young and energetic although perhaps not quite as smart as we thought along with the fact we had not really grasped the idea of "fear" and seldom panicked over little things or even bigger things for that matter. Grandparents are usually much older now when their grandchildren come into the world and not always in the best of health - in most cases they will not live to see their grandchildren marry or have great grandchildren. It makes me wonder if the trend to wait longer to start a family will continue to even longer periods of time or will there be a reversal to have children earlier? They say "what goes around comes around" so we shall see.
Haven't had much to say lately, not that I do not have opinions but thought I would give everyone a break. So glad that grandson, Emmett, got off to his first day of school on a happy note and in a bus with a flat front! No doubt he will have
some stories to relate in the days to come about his new adventure.
Today is grocery day and George has gone off to his favorite store where the staff treat him like royalty - you would think he was someone "important" but isn't that just like a man to get the royal treatment - it never happens to me! Unlike
department stores grocery places are not my thing and I figure I cook the food that should be enough. Truth be said I can run up a huge grocery bill with "unnecessary" or "nice to have" items that eventually end up in the garbage. His favorite
"servers" wondered why he often talks about me (that sounds ominous) but they have never seen me to which he replied "I do not allow her to be let loose in a grocery store anymore". Think I should wander over there some Thursday morning
and say "here I am, I do exist and see there is no ball and chain".
Attaching photo of the place across the way which is being totally lanscaped. The inside has finally been cleared and cleaned out and the kitchen and bathroom all renovated. We let the cleaners in last week, they call themselves "Freek-N-Kleen" and they did a "Freek-N" good job.

Extreme measures to ban children under 16 from driving ATV is urged at inquest into the death of a 7 year old - it is about time!! I just cannot imagine what would possess a parent to allow a child of 7 to drive a high powered ATV who by the way began to drive these vehicles at the age of 4 years. 93 children under the age of 12 have been admitted to hospital over the past few years as a result of accidents involving ATVs. In this case the father was charged for not having the vehicle licensed or insured and paid $5,000 - it was stated he had taken proper precautions - come on folks we did not just get off the turnip truck he was most definitely a negligent parent who was indeed responsible for the death of his child. To top it all off and this really irks me, the father blamed the manufactuers for not providing adequate warning on the dangers of ATV driving and for not better regulating their use (high powered ATV's are NOT toys). If a parent slaps a child on the behind for misbehaving the child is taken away and the parents can go to jail BUT a parent can indanger the life of a small child and get a slap on the wrist. The father is part of this blame everyone else society that is happening today whether it is a case like the above, lose your shirt gambling and blame the casino, get lung cancer and blame the tobacco company, blame your parents for all the problems in your life because a Mickey Mouse dime a dozen physcologist tells you it is so. When we become adults we ARE responsible for our actions.
