Harper's visit to the hospital last evening brought an unlikely scenerio to mind:
He arrives at hospital emergency:
"Mr. Harper, what seems to be your problem"?
"I am having trouble breathing"
"Fine, just take a seat if you can find one among the throngs of sick people and someone will register you in about an hour or so - hopefully a doctor will be free to see you in approximately six hours".

We all know this would never happen but it would certainly be an eye opener!!

I am really all for giving the guy a chance. About the handshake at his kid's school- if I remember correctly as it has been a "few" years nine year old boys are not comfortable with being kissed/hugged by parents in front of their peers - what's wrong with a handshake??

It is hard to imagine that the Immigration Department who should be concentrating on the 35, 000 immigrants who are in this country illegally are spending time and money on a family who are self reliant and making a decent living here. Belgium has exonerated the petty crime committed by this farmer a long time ago but this government in its infinite wisdom decides to kick him and his family out of the country - just unreal. Wonder if this family were a visible minority would they be treated this way - I think not.

My other issue today is the fact that ambulances are waiting for hours at hospitals to have patients admitted and are off the streets for long periods of time. Placing more ambulances on the road has not solved the problem if they are tied up because of the backload at the emergency rooms. The solution is not rocket science (although it might just be to this government) in that they need paramedics or other qualified personnel on standby at the hospitals to take over care of the patients when they arrive at the hospitals - too simple I guess.

In defence of George and my last blog I may have given the wrong impression - he is actually very generous and can be extravagant at times - he just feels it is a ripoff to pay a small fortune to park your car for a hour or so whereas I would just pay whatever the price for the convenience.

Yesterday while waiting in the dentist office a young woman came out with two children, the little girl was about 6 years old and was carrying a bundle of papers (brochures about dentistry) and her mother told her to place them on the table, she immediately looked at her mother and said "No" and proceeded to fire them in the face of a man sitting beside me. When her mother told her to pick up the papers she said "No I will not" and the man got up and picked up the papers. The woman did not say a word to the child nor did she apologize to the man and when placing the girl's coat on she was hugging and kissing her regardless of her bad behaviour - the little girl was very cute but that was neither here or there as her behaviour was simply terrible. It was difficult to bite my tongue and keep my thoughts to myself - I would likely have been told off if I did.

A penny here, a penny there:
At my age I am not one to be overly concerned about saving a few bucks when it comes to convenience unlike himself who likes to beat the expensive parking rates by parking at the Elmvale shopping centre and walking a block or two to the medical building. Upon his return today he found a $50 parking ticket on his car - Ah ha, and how much did you save today??? Obviously "big brother" has been watching those who park at the far end of the shopping centre close to the crosswalk. To top it off the zipper on his boots broke and he had to fork out money for a new pair - not to worry Zellers sold him a pair at half price and they should last him for several years or more!!
