Recent Updates on Research for Ralph Family Tree

MARCH 2004

I have not had any success in identifying the parents of John Ralph and Ann Rowe, my great grandparents.  I have been doing some research on the Ralph family as a whole and found there were two Ralphs, William b. 1763 and Charles b. 1760 who settled in Port de Grave in the 1700's
- Charles married Mary Stevens and all his family moved to Flat Island - he died 12 Nov 1844 at Little Coney Arm.  I have collected a good deal of information on the family of Charles.  William, passed away before 1806 and his wife Ann (Snow) and family, John, George, Ann, and Charles remained at Port de Grave - John and Thomas eventually settled in Clarke’s Beach and Charles and George I believe settled in Sandy Cove.  My great grandfather, John, was a descendant of either John married to Rachael Tucker or Thomas Ralph. Records are quite scarce the further back one goes which makes research rather difficult.

"Lord help me dig into the past and sift the hands of time, that I might find the roots that made this family tree of mine.  Lord, help me trace the ancient roads on which my fathers trod, and led them through so many lands to find our present sod.  Lord, help me find an ancient book or dusty manuscript, that's safely hidden now away in some forgotten crypt.  Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts my soul when I can't find, the missing link between some name that ends the same as mine."
