This is the bike I've been talking about...in its somewhat complete state. I'm not happy with the play in the fork, so I ordered another one...one that should fit right. Otherwise, the drivetrain is perfect. I scored the pedal clips and chainring bolts in a small bikestore in Hull, after weeks of searching. Turns out they had the parts I was looking for...in a box at the back of the store. Sweet 1990 prices still on them.

This is an illustration I did for a current client. I've been meaning to try my hand at vector illustration for a while now, and I'm pleased that I got the chance to pull this one off. I'm really happy with it.

Finally...the photos.
The gratuitus Maddy photo.

These are the cranks for my bike. I only have them posted here because I found the little quick release thingy for the tripod and I'm finally able to take some slow speed shot using natural light. These are Dura Ace cranks made by Shimano. Dura Ace is the Rolls Royce of bike parts. Now these ones are something like 20 years old, but they are NOS...or "New Old Stock"...meaning they have never been used. I've been lucky enough over the winter to track down enough NOS parts to assemble a reasonably new vintage bike. These cranks we worth something like $500 back in 1986 dollars, I picked them up for $20.

Ok...no pictures yet.
My current gig as a designer for hire has led me into a whirlwind of meetings and conversations with some very interesting folks. I was talking to a guy today who is best described as an "internet cleaner". This is the guy you hire when you have a business that is sore and your looking for a new direction. Speaking with him (for another client), I'm starting to be convinced that we're are at the cusp of another technology bubble. Certainly not like the first, but one that is going to send the market into a tizzy. This one will hopefully be founded on more solid business decisions rather than the aimless speculation of the first. Regardless, I'm very excited to be immersed in it all and can't fathom why I haven't done this ages ago. I work on my own terms, make way more money, meet interesting people and never need to tow some idiotic corporate line. Surf baby!
