I bought some new snow tires. I figure the seven year old ones on the car are pretty much played and this seems like a good year for snow. I ordered them from TireRack in the US. Pretty sweet deal...they were on sale for $75/tire...with shipping it worked out to about $125. The Lexus dealer quoted me $230. Hmmm....hello Toyota, you need to get serious about your efforts for parity with US prices. I'm sure they're still puzzled by the deserted showrooms.

People occasionally ask me what my favorite building is in Ottawa...its a tough question because my favorites come and go with my mood. Consistently, this house in Rothwell Heights is one that I can say I truly love. Despite its apparent rural flavor, it sits in the midst of many other houses. I feel that it is perfectly sited, has a dramatic approach and appears to have a layout that is resolutely modern. Its placement on the site is carefully considered in terms of privacy and capturing the light. I could easily picture myself living here. Sadly, if it ever does come on the market, the lot will be very desirable and the house will likely be torn down and some other monstrosity built.
