faq.
Why do you have a faq?
Because we get a lot of questions about the firm.

Aren't you an architecture firm?
Correct.

And you do software/web/graphic design as well?
Correct.

How can you do both?
Short answer...why not.
Long answer...What we do is design experiences. People encounter designed experiences every day. Most of these are created to make you buy more stuff, feel better about your politics or make you feel guilty about your tires. More often than not, people are manipulated by design. This is design that is largely manifest by business intentions. We design user experiences. We hold at the core of our mission the intent to design spectacular experiences for our clients, aka. the users. Designed experiences happen at many different levels and in many different ways. We feel that the most impoverished experiences these days are architectural ones. Buildings are too often considered as economic and structural assets, with little regard to the highly animated and social occupants. We inject the humanity into the design. The same holds true for software, websites and consumer products...they often marginalize the user for more important business and market motives.

Wow...thats pretty heavy.
Sorry. Fundamentally we are designers...doesn't really matter what the "stuff" is; we make sure the user is represented.

Your project portfolio is a little light? For experience designers you don't seem to have a lot of...experience.
Actually, we've been at this for a long time now; more than 20 years. Its taken us a while to realize that user experience is what we really do. We wanted our most representative work on the site, rather than just an inventory of our projects. Give us a call to chat about some of the older things we've done...you'll be impressed.

What is LEED?
It stands for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design". Its a standard that is applied to sustainable and environmentally aware building projects.

So.
Exactly. LEED is a brand. If your business is leasing or developing buildings...its a really important feature. Otherwise, its principals can be applied to any building project. Most of them are common sense and if you intend to keep your building for a while, they will pay for themselves. We are LEED accredited because it is the most recognizable and reasonable of the standards out there. Although sustainability and environmental awareness are core to our mission, we want to make sure our clients have access to the best practices out there...we feel that LEED is one of them.

Why isn't your website all fancy and animated?
Less is more.

Anything else we should know?
I was born the year Le Corbusier died. You can't beat that karma.
