Electronic publishing pioneer Deke McClelland is a popular lecturer on Adobe Photoshop and the larger realm of computer graphics and design. He has produced hundreds of hours of tutorial-style video training for industry leaders lynda.com and Total Training. Deke has written 84 books translated into 24 languages, with more than 4 million copies in print. This site, built on the popular Drupal platform, provides the author with a web asset to nurture a community of readers and students. In addition to the web development effort, considerable work was completed to rebrand and develop visual identity collateral.
deke branding
As part of the new website, a new brand design and identity effort was carried out. A new wordmark was prepared and incorporate into the website design. New visual imagery was prepared to reinforce the brand. Building on aspects of some of Deke's books and videos, our insight was to represent some of the "iconic tools of the trade". Similar to other projects, we procured and produced all the stock photography to ensure the uniqueness and individuality of images. These images were then incorporated into the site design.
deke website
The principal requirement for the website was to present a polished and comprehensive location for Deke's fans and readers to get up to date news and provide feedback. Another requirement was to ensure that the site provided an easy to use and dynamic method for updating content and establishing a community of interest.
We decided to build the site on the popular CMS "Drupal" platform. This tool provides the client with an intuitive and empowering interface to update and expand the website.
Currently in beta, the site will provide Deke with a blog, posting pages for his books and videos and a place to post his free tips and tricks hints.
