These are some of our recent projects. We've been in practice in various capacities for more than 20 years now, and have an extensive portfolio of projects. We've choosen to present projects that represent our current sensibility and direction of the firm. We would be happy to discuss some of our older projects on request.

web, brand, software, product>
1420 Carling Ave.
Proposed new development for this irregular lot on Carling Ave. at Kirkwood. The building will host a professional services or merchantile tenant in early 2008. The building will be constructed in accordance to "green" standards and is intended to be a model for sustainability and environmentally sensitive design.
Backyard Studio
This backyard studio is more of an experiment than anything. The program involved simply getting a small, quiet workspace into an otherwise cramped and full New Edinburg semi. The solution was to build a decorated shed in an otherwise shady and secluded part of the rear yard. Measuring 10' x 10', the "hut" accomodates a table, chair and a precious grey market motorcycle.
Tego Building
This is a high profile Merivale Road warehouse and showroom facility for Tego, a local bathroom renovation company. The facility will house limited manufacturing for their patented "Bathwall" product. The building is a pre-engineered steel structure designed to optimize construction time and energy efficiency. The design embraces the industrial aesthetic with exposed Galvalume finishes on the roof and walls.
Hoferek House
A simple garage and second storey addition to this modest Westboro home. A small onestorey addition to the existing dining room creates a small study looking out to the rear yard. The design is resolutly modern yet integrates nicely in an otherwise traditional neighbourhood.
Irving Street
An addition and renovation to this Civic Hospital residence. The scope of work included a significant addition to the main floor and basement. Part of the work involved renovations to the main floor and second floors. Included in the work was a new kitchen and eating area.
324 Fairmont
A modest but finely crafted one story addtion to this Civic Hospital area century home. The work included a revised kitchen, new family eating/gathering space and a workout room in the lower level. This project was awarded a "Heritage Conservation" prize by the City of Ottawa.
19 Ivy Cres
A speculative new development proposal for this New Edinburg street. It is a study in the intensification of a traditional single family lot. The intention was to build using sustainable and ecologically sound practices.
Farmbrook House
A simple one storey addtion to this suburban home. The design considers expanded living spaces for this growing family as well as improved accessibility for their physically challenged son. The design provides a much improved link to the rear yard and open space beyond.
Wallis House
This former protestant hospital and military annex was one of the first loft style conversion in Ottawa. Although the building provided a very good foundation for renovation, each unit required exacting, personal attention. The bulk of the work completed by Kevin Deevey, Architect was with regard to the recording of the exisiting building and the completion of the contract documents. The project was an enormous success and spawned several more similar developments in Ottawa.
Rideau Canoe Club
A design and feasibility project for this historic club in Ottawa. In an effort to address an expanding membership and program, the club is proceeding with this new one storey addition. Given its sensitive location on the banks of the Rideau river, the design addresses the ecological and aesthetic concerns by the various authorities having jurisdiction.
Deke.com
The design and development of a CMS based website for this popular technology writer. Bult on the Drupal platform, the site provides Deke McClelland with a powerful tool to communicate with his readers and partners. In addition to the web collateral, we provided new brand and visual design for his company.

A division of Pepper Cellars Inc. This new Calabogie based business endeavors to provide "culinary experience-artisan approach-community focus". This CMS based website provides the bulk of the online presence for the coffee shop and bakery. In addition to the web collateral, we provided them with complete brand and marketing collateral design.

RCA Portal
This web application is the first deployment of "3Blahs"; a collaborative project and file sharing solution. This modular tool can be deployed simply and effectively on any web server. It provides the client with a complete file sharing and project collaboration tool in the form of a client portal. The current site is still in beta form.

Corel Media Center Prototype
A high fidelity prototyping project for this important international software firm. A combination of user interface design and workflow analysis. The project involved the production of realistic comps and the creation of Flash based workflow examples.
Corel ConceptShare Integration
This solution provides an embedded web interface in the CorelDraw! web connector docker to acess the ConceptShare.com web application interface. The ConceptShare non-sychronous file collaboration solution is accessed via a login interface provided by Draw allowing the to simply and easily add projects to this powerful web service.
Corel WordPerfect Lightning
As part of our product developement work on Corel's WordPerfect Lightning , we created this unique user community site. Built on the "CommunityServer" platform, the solution incorporates blogging, a user forum and a user gallery. Used as a preview testbed for their other products, it has been very well received and will serve as the foundation for the company's other products.
Klocwork Insight Branding
As part of a new product branding effort, we have created a new wordmark and branding collateral for the Klocwork suite of static analysis tools. As part of the effort, a refreshed website and supporting technical materials have been prepared for the upcoming 2008 launch. Read more...

AthenaBackup is a remote file storage solution. To accompany their desktop solution, this solution allows user to search, browse and manage their remotely stored assets via a web based interface. The tool, targeted to a largely consumer audience, provides a simple and intuitive interface to assist user in restoring lost files and to create fun slideshows.
CorelDraw! X4 Welcome Screen
This project is an embedded web asset placed in the context of this next generation, award winning vector drawing application. The solution provides users with a rich and interactive interface to launch their desktop projects. The tool incorporates interfaces to search, browse existing files; to instantiate templates or organize their Draw! Assets. The solution is written in strict xhtml and uses javascript to communicate with application API’s to ensure a powerful user experience.
Klocwork Project Central
Project Central is a web based application that incorporates a user interface layer providing reporting and user interation with Klocwork's award winning static analysis system. Originally designed and partially implemented by this firm, this new project seeks to update the interface and address new feature capabilities.
Optelian Branding
The first phase of work was the design and creation of a new corporate profile brochure. The second phase incorporated a design review and branding audit of the existing corporate web site in the context of branding assets already created by the firm.
Trialstat Caries Project
A specific and highly interactive component of this significant web solution. The tool provides their customers in the dental industry with an easy to use graphic interface for inputting clinical data. Built largely in Flash, the tool acts as visual front end for an otherwise complicated and text based web application.
QNX Development Suite
Redesign and development of this existing embedded web asset. The solution provides users with a rich overview of the product features and tutorials. The redesign work involved the integration of new branding assets created by the firm. The code base is strict xhtml and CSS.
Hullo.com
Product and corporate web site for this short lived consumer VOIP solution. The firm provided a wide range of design services ranging from User interface design for the product to Flash based marketing and communication material. The firm provided design and limited development for the web site. The code was written in .NET.
klocwork E-learning
A Flash based e-learning asset that acts in support of their award winning Static Analysis software solution. This significant tool provides customers with a step by step environment for mastering the intricacies of the product. The e-learning tool provides a chapter based curriculum with quizzes and exams that require a sufficient knowledge of the material in order to progress. It comprises more than 500K lines of code and oftern requires more than a week to complete.

Trialstat XML Interface
A Flash based prototype that endeavors to provided a more intuitive and friendly reporting interface for this otherwise text based, form driven solution. This small solution provides an interface that allows users to upload clinical data and then review it with a Flash based interface. This project is a proof of concept that was developed quickly and with limited resources.
XFY Financial
A rich and interactive front end for this business analysis solution. Intended to be a closed extranet solution, the tool allows financial service organizations to make quick and powerful assessments of propective loan applications. The service was never launched.

Principal designer for this award winning product. Corel Grafigo 2 is an intuitive, powerful and easy-to-use new software application that breaks down the barriers of mobile computing, and truly enables graphics on the go.
